DESCRIPTION:
WW - Protona watch form microphone by Minifon, MI-51, 39mm x 51mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original chrome-plated base metal case with stainless steel snap back, concealed wire attached to the side of the case at 9 with an input to be plugged into a recording device, gray leather strap, original white dial with black painted numerals, two inset subregisters for "minute recording" and "subsidiary seconds," 0J, this is not a real functioning watch. Included is a complete MI-51 setup including recorder, wrist-mounted microphone, car power adapter, wall adapter, headphones, carry case and, my personal favorite, the body mounted sling. Produced in the 1950s and into the 1960s, this was at the cutting edge of spy craft and kit for the private dick being the smallest tape recorder at the time and portable; these were favored by many different intelligence agencies.
CONDITION:
Watch form microphone shows little wear, light chrome plating loss in several areas on lugs and back, nearly flawless faux chronograph dial with very light surface spotting, outer box has ample wear with large portions of the faux leather finish having fallen off, inner material is in fine overall condition, recorder faux leather pouch has cracks and is starting to deteriorate as well, recorder and kit are sold as is for display purposes, we are not able to test nor verify working condition of the microphone and recorder.
